Within the first year of Josh’s death, we connected with many others who had lost a loved one to suicide. Marisa Giarnella-Porco and Ernie Porco lost their son in his

freshman year of college to suicide. We learned about the Fresh Check Day

program they had started in his honor and it resonated with us since we

recognized the importance of educating college students about

mental health and suicide prevention.
